Voices of Experience: Best Practice in Service User Involvement for Women Facing Multiple Disadvantage

On July 20th 2016, AVA (Against Violence and Abuse) held a seminar to explore the themes of best practice around service user involvement for women facing multiple disadvantage. The seminar provided an opportunity to explore existing models, best practice and to hear from experts by experience themselves. Two members of the NECG attended the seminar to provide evidenceSandra Morgan from Opportunity Nottingham and Donna Douglas, Chair of the Fulfilling Lives Newcastle & Gateshead expert citizens group. At the time of the seminar Sandra was the only female beneficiary ambassador at her project and Donna was the only female group member in Newcastle. This was the first national speaking opportunity for the members and they were nervous. However, they did themselves, their projects and the group proud.

AVA published a report on the seminar and this is available here: Experts-by-Experience-Seminar-Event-Summary.
